Overview

Building Construction Authority (BCA) has identified Building Information Modelling (BIM) as a key technology, which can be used to improve productivity and level of integration across various disciplines in the entire construction value chain.

Currently, many in the building industry supply chains understand BIM as a new software or even has the synonym with a 3D modelling software trademark. BIM is the process that uses a software to create a 3D building model with an organised of all building data. It is a shared knowledge resource for information about a facility forming a reliable basis for decisions during its life-cycle; defined as existing from earliest conception to demolition (Source: Nationalbimstandard.org).

This programme provides insight on the use of BIM for different disciplines in building industry supply chains. The programme covers the following topics:

  • BIM concept (0.5 day)
  • BIM execution plan (0.5 day)
  • Autodesk Revit Architecture (1 day)
  • Autodesk Revit Structure (1 day)
  • Autodesk Revit MEP (1 day)

To aid companies in transforming their capabilities through their human capital, and support Singapore’s drive towards becoming a Smart Nation, this course is mapped to the Singapore Economic Development Board’s Singapore Smart Industry Readiness Index:

  • Dimension 2 - Horizontal Integration
  • Dimension 9 - Facility Connectivity
  • Dimension 12 - Facility Intelligence

What You’ll Learn

Autodesk Revit Architecture
  • Autodesk Revit is one of the commonly used BIM authoring software used by the building industry, which is used for architectural, structural and Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) modelling. In this topic, participants will learn basic practical skills, visualizing and reviewing of architectural building models through a hands-on practice and exercises.
Autodesk Revit MEP
  • This course will provide participants with fundamental knowledge required to produce, visualize and review building services – mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) – drawings using Autodesk Revit software.
Autodesk Revit Structure
  • In this session, we will explore how to manipulate BIM models received from collaborating disciplines, how to interrogate structure BIM models for information, and exchange information with structure analysis and design software.
BIM Concept
  • This topic will introduce the BIM definition and concepts to the participants.
BIM Execution Plan
  • The BIM Execution Plan is an essential project document, which details the basis and expectations of all project parties in collaborating using BIM processes. A typical BIM Execution Plan template will be scrutinised in this session and the meaning, concepts, and implications behind each section discussed.
