SITizens Learning Credits

Overview

This 1-day training workshop will help the participants to develop a better understanding of all things HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study), in relation to Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Process Safety Management (PSM) and Safety Case Study, which are now gaining wide importance in many industries, especially in the oil & gas, chemical and process industries. HAZOP Study is a structured and systematic assessment of a complex planned or existing process or operation in order to identify and evaluate problems and issues that may represent hazards and risks to personnel, equipment, facilities, organization and environment.

Conducting a good HAZOP Study is one of the pillars of Process Safety Management (PSM) which is highly relevant for the Safety Case Study in many industries in Singapore, such as Oil & Gas Industry, Refineries, Chemicals and Petrochemical Production Industry, Pharmaceutical Production Industry, Plastic Production Industry, etc.

This HAZOP Study workshop will help the participants to understand and apply the HAZOP study methodology and terminology, its benefits and limitations, the roles and responsibilities of HAZOP team members, and when the HAZOP study technique should be applied to assess the hazards and risks of their process and/or operation facilities. During the workshop, the participants will have the hands-on opportunity to participate in a practical HAZOP review study based on an actual process in the industry, to identify and to mitigate hazards, causes and consequences. Participants will also have opportunity to share HAZOP study experiences.
