Overview
This module will explore techniques for solving engineering problems identified in participants’ workplaces and enable them to develop relevant analytical knowledge and skills. With SIT’s focus on the importance of applied learning and research, participants will be tasked to work on a technical project that requires detailed industrial understanding and research application.
This module will also encourage critical thinking to address and solve complex engineering problems using various techniques which supports the development of SIT-DNA in our graduates. During the execution of design project, participants will aim to achieve the desired objectives effectively, including obtaining resources.
In the process, participants will also get the opportunity to develop soft skills such as goal setting, identifying the gap, setting up problem statements, as well as effective communications.
This module is 1 of the 4 core modules under the Postgraduate Certificate in Urban Railway Technology.
What You’ll Learn
1. Demonstrate an understanding of engineering knowledge in the domain area of the project
2. Apply required technical skills in solving the workplace problem defined
3. Evaluate critically the needs and root causes of the engineering problems
4. Propose technical solutions to solve industrial problems with fundamental engineering concepts
5. Plan and execute a project independently with minimum supervision from project mentors
6. Communicate and justify solutions and ideas effectively through presentations
Who Should Attend
- Engineering professionals who have recently embarked on or are planning to start a career in the public transport industry, with specializations in urban railway systems and technology
