Overview

Quantum Computing is the next wave in the Software Industry. Problems that are considered too complex and time consuming to be solved using classical computers can be solved using Quantum computers. There are already small sized quantum computers developed by various companies and it is just a matter of time quantum computers as desktops becomes a norm.

In this 3-day course, we will discuss the basic building blocks of quantum computers, quantum gates and how to write programs to create quantum circuits. This is not a course on quantum mechanics. We will build simple quantum circuits to see quantum entanglement and teleportation. We will look at some quantum algorithms that can find solutions way faster than normal computers. We will learn the algorithm and implement that algorithm in a quantum computer and will witness the exponential speed up.

Since the course is introductory, the only prerequisite is some understanding of programming (preferably Python) and high school mathematics

Prerequisites

  • Diploma in any field
  • Some knowledge of programming (preferably Python) and high school mathematics
 

SITizens Learning Credits (SLC) - Eligible Course

Certificate and Assessment

A Certificate of Participation will be issued to participants who:

  • Attend at least 75% of the course
  • Undertake non-credit bearing assessment during the course
  • The assessment will be an online quiz

SkillsFuture Funding


In order to be eligible for the 70% training grant awarded by SkillsFuture, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
  1. Be a Singaporean Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
  2. Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy

To be eligible for the 90% enhanced subsidy awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
  1. Be a Singaporean Citizen
  2. Be at least 40 years old
  3. Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme
