Overview

Most typical industrial robots can be programmed online or offline. Online programming is performed with a teach pendant whereas offline programming is when a robot program is created in a virtual environment before it is uploaded to the robot for task execution. As offline robot programming is first created and tested in a virtual software environment, it enables new robotic automation to be developed for production line with minimum downtime to existing operations. 

This 1-day workshop will equip participants with the knowledge on the implementation of commercial robotic automation to industrial processes, perform analysis on the movement sequence, cycle time and collision detection.  The first half of the workshop focuses on the basics of ABB Robot Studio software and RAPID, a high-level robot programming language. The second half of the workshop will be a hands-on session to perform offline robot programming of the robotic arm (ABB IRB 120) for a specified pick-and-place task. Subsequently, the program will be loaded into the actual robotic work cell to execute the task.

To aid companies in transforming their capabilities through their human capital, and support Singapore’s drive towards becoming a Smart Nation, this course is mapped to the Singapore Economic Development Board’s Singapore Smart Industry Readiness Index – Dimension 4 Shop Floor Automation.

What You’ll Learn

  • ABB Robot Studio
    Participants will be introduced to the environment, basic functions of robotic control and modelling in ABB Robot Studio.

  • RAPID robot programming language
    Participants will learn the basics of RAPID robot programming language, which will be employed for offline robot programming.

  • Offline robot programming
    Participants will learn to perform offline robot programming with Robot Studio to simulate a specified pick-and-place operation. The program will then be uploaded to the actual ABB IRB 120 to execute the task.

To be eligible for the 70% training grant awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
  1.  Be a Singaporean Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
  2.  Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy

To be eligible for the 90% enhanced subsidy awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
  1.  Be a Singaporean Citizen
  2.  Be at least 40 years old
  3.  Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SIT reserves the right to collect the balance of the course fees (i.e. the potential grant amount) directly from the applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) should the above requirements not be fulfilled.
