Overview

This module aims to provide participants with applied knowledge and skills on the broad range of technologies and multi-disciplinary integrative strategies. This knowledge is necessary to implement more intelligent power systems of the near-future, which can be more resilient, energy-efficient, cyber-secure, interoperable and can accommodate higher penetration of renewables while enhancing the electrification experience of consumers.

The technologies include sensing & instrumentation, communications and machine intelligence, which are crucial to making power networks smart, regardless whether the power networks are large or small, grid-connected or standalone. Before the Smart Grid becomes ubiquitous, it is also important to understand cyber-security issues and implement processes to address them at the early stage.

Prerequisites

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering
  • At least one-year of relevant working experience
 

Certificate and Assessment

A Certificate of Participation will be issued to participants who
  • Attend 75% of the module
  • Undertake the Continuous Assessment and Exam Paper
A Certificate of Attainment will be issued to participants who:
  • Attend at least 75% of the module; and
  • Participants who pass the Continuous Assessment and Exam Paper will earn 6 ECTS credits, which are stackable for Postgraduate Certificate in Electrical Power Engineering

SkillsFuture Funding


In order to be eligible for the 70% training grant awarded by SkillsFuture, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
  1.  Be a Singaporean Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
  2.  Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy

To be eligible for the 90% enhanced subsidy awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
  1.  Be a Singaporean Citizen
  2.  Be at least 40 years old
  3.  Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SIT reserves the right to collect the balance of the programme fees (i.e. the potential grant amount) directly from the applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) should the above requirements not be fulfilled.

 

Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)

This is a Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP) supported course. If you are an NTUC member, you can enjoy 50% unfunded course fee support for up to $250 each year for courses supported under UTAP. Terms and conditions apply.
