What You’ll Learn

Topic 1
  • Basics of Technical Writing- clarity, completeness, accuracy (attention to details in factual representation, grammatical usage, word choice and punctuation),conciseness, coherence , logical sequence, level of formality, register & tone.
Topic 2
  • Technical reports - Technical reports provide information, analysis, instructions and/or recommendations. Good reports take into consideration the audience or reader(s) so that they may provide enough background on a topic to facilitate their understanding and/ or decision-making. Depending on who would be reading the report, technical reports would also avoid or minimize the use of jargon, adopt a less or more formal tone & register.
Topic 3
  • Technical proposals usually provide an introduction to a new project. They have a very specific persuasive purpose, planned phases or tasks, methods to be employed, expected results and benefits, and a budget. A proposal acts as an outline for the project if accepted. Proposals do not necessarily need to have a budget, as it may propose cost-free changes. Proposals may be research-based and thus would have to be referenced properly using a proper citation convention such as APA, IEEE or Harvard style of referencing. They would also have to be properly formatted and presented to the reader(s) with a professional finish.

Who Should Attend
