Overview

Buildings, including industrial and commercial buildings, consume about 45% of total electricity generation from the main grid or other local generations, leading to global warming and a significant high CO2 emission to the environment. Almost 50% of building energy consumption is attributed to air conditioning systems. In a tropical region like Singapore, space cooling is essential for industrial or commercial buildings throughout the year to improve productivity, thermal comfort level and indoor air quality.

As chiller plants are an essential part of the buildings and consume a significant amount of energy, this course focuses on the fundamental of chiller plants and its associated components such as blowers, fans, piping network and ducting networks. Other topics will also be discussed in this 2-day course including the selection of chiller to optimise the energy consumption in the buildings, as well as water system and air system in contributing to the chiller plant’s energy efficiency.

Who Should Attend

Diploma holders who want to be equipped with the fundamental knowledge and application of Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning.

 

Prerequisites

Knowledge of thermodynamics is required to enrol in the programme.

Certificate and Assessment

A Certificate of Participation will be issued to participants who attend 75% of the workshop. Students will be assessed based on the topics learned:
  • Attend 75% of the workshop.
  • Undertake non-credit assessment (during course).

SkillsFuture Funding


In order to be eligible for the 70% training grant awarded by SkillsFuture, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
  1.  Be a Singaporean Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
  2.  Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy

To be eligible for the 90% enhanced subsidy awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
  1.  Be a Singaporean Citizen
  2.  Be at least 40 years old
  3.  Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SIT reserves the right to collect the balance of the programme fees (i.e. the potential grant amount) directly from the applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) should the above requirements not be fulfilled.

 

Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)

This is a Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP) supported course. If you are an NTUC member, you can enjoy 50% unfunded course fee support for up to $250 each year for courses supported under UTAP. Terms and conditions apply.
