Overview

The aim of this course is to give students the opportunity to develop and inspire the creative or intellectual intersection to generate remarkable, surprising, groundbreaking ideas for business success. Participants can get to critically assess entrepreneurship and to consider the range of skills required to become a successful entrepreneur or intrapreneur (someone who is entrepreneurial within a firm). In doing so, students will have the opportunity to work with students from other disciplines to facilitate an appreciation of entrepreneurship in different sectors and how they can learn and adopt or adapt solutions from other fields. The module will engage students in wide-ranging discussions and problem-solving exercises using examples from a range of organisations, small businesses, communities and the third sector. International, cultural and ethical issues will underpin the practical and theoretical developments in the course.

What You’ll Learn

  • Explain what, exactly what is meant by the intersection and why we can expect to see a lot more of it in the future and its usefulness for Creative Entrepreneurship. You will see how three critical forces are working together to increase the number of intersections around the world.
  • Explain why stepping into the Intersection creates opportunities for creative entrepreneurship. You will see why it is such a vibrant place for creativity and how we can use intersections to generate remarkable, surprising, and groundbreaking ideas
  • Outline the unique challenges we face when executing intersectional ideas and how we can overcome those challenges. You will see how execution at the Intersection is different from within established fields, and you will learn how to prepare for those differences.
