Overview
This module is designed to develop advanced knowledge and competencies in elder care rehabilitation. The International Classification of Disability is used as the foundation for developing an understanding of and insight into rehabilitation approaches to a variety of medical, post-surgical, and biopsychosocial conditions encountered in the older patients. Rehabilitation strategies emphasise interprofessional practice so critically needed for effective geriatric rehabilitation.
The module will be delivered using blended learning pedagogy and flexible scheduling for adult learners. The learning activities and assessment strategies will reflect workplace demands, upskill module participants and enhance service delivery. Students will be exposed to keynote lectures, seminar series, workshops in support of their online learning and personal studies.
The assessment will be two written submissions and an oral presentation. Focusing on using technology to enhance care, a case study, and service implementation.

- To discuss and appraise the application of the ICF in elder care
- To appraise and discuss biopsychosocial and ethical issues and dilemmas that can arise in elder care and clinical decision making
- To critique the competing demands of economic, organizational, political and sociocultural contexts that impact on the delivery and acceptability of elder care services and rehabilitation
- To understand and evaluate the value and challenges of inter-professional working in elder
person care
- To design and propose a clinical initiative that would enhance elder person rehabilitation
- To identify barriers and facilitators in the implementation of different models of elder care
rehabilitation and services
- To interpret research and other evidence for translation into elder person rehabilitation and the
gaps in knowledge

Duration
- Part-time Postgraduate Certificate in Elder Health and Rehabilitation: 1 - 3 years
- Part-time Postgraduate Diploma in Elder Health and Rehabilitation: 1 - 5 years
- Each module is around 12-14 weeks in duration
- Candidates are expected to set aside time for self-directed learning for the entire duration of the module
Certificate and Assessment
A Certificate of Participation will be issued to participants who:
- Attend 75% of the module, and
- Undertake credit bearing assessment
A Certificate of Attainment will be issued to participants who:
- Attend 75% of the module, and
- Participants who pass the Assessment criteria of the respective module will earn 6 credits, which are stackable for Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma qualifications.<
- Candidates who pass 4 modules (totalling 24 credits) with a CGPA of 2.5 or more will be awarded the Postgraduate Certificate in Elder Health and Rehabilitation by Singapore Institute of Technology.
- Candidates who pass 8 modules (totalling 48 credits) with a CGPA of 2.5 or more will be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in Elder Health and Rehabilitation by Singapore Institute of Technology.

To be eligible for the 70% training grant awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:

2. Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme
SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy
To be eligible for the 90% enhanced subsidy awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
1. Be a Singaporean Citizen
2. Be at least 40 years old
3. Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme
SIT reserves the right to collect the balance of the programme fees (i.e. the potential grant amount) directly from the applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) should the above requirements not be fulfilled.

Postgraduate Certificate in Elder Health and Rehabilitation
These modules are stackable towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Elder Health and Rehabilitation or can be taken individually as a single module as follows:

These modules are stackable towards a Postgraduate Diploma in Elder Health and Rehabilitation or can be taken individually as a single module as follows:
