Overview

This 1-day interactive workshop will allow participants to develop their ability to identify and respond appropriately to ethical issues arising from the generation, storage, usage or transmission of big data. Participants will be introduced to practical reasoning methods which will enable them to move beyond merely understanding current codes of digital ethics to being capable of resolving ethical dilemmas and contributing to the refinement of the codes themselves.

What You’ll Learn

  • Understand the nature of practical ethics (applied ethical reasoning) and how it differs from legal compliance
  • Understand the nature of ethical issues arising in relation to the collection, manipulation and use of big data
  • Understand and apply a particular ethical framework to big data case studies drawn from different industries
  • Critically evaluate an ethical framework for big data and make suggestions for its refinement in application to his or her own industry

Who Should Attend

Professionals, managers and executives who utilise big data to develop new products or commercial opportunities.

SkillsFuture Funding


In order to be eligible for the 70% training grant awarded by SkillsFuture, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
  1.  Be a Singaporean Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
  2.  Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy

To be eligible for the 90% enhanced subsidy awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
  1.  Be a Singaporean Citizen
  2.  Be at least 40 years old
  3.  Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SIT reserves the right to collect the balance of the programme fees (i.e. the potential grant amount) directly from the applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) should the above requirements not be fulfilled.

SIT reserves the right to make changes to published course information, including dates, times, venues, fees and instructors without prior notice.
