Overview

With an average life expectancy of 83 in 2015, Singapore has the third-highest life expectancy in the world. For healthcare providers, an ageing population is associated with many issues, among which are falls in older persons.

Research evidence suggests that falls in the elderly can be reduced by identifying fall risks early and intervening to improve postural balance. Falls can also be tackled by addressing contributory factors such as polypharmacy and poor vision, hazards in home environments, and improving the overall health status of the older adult.

In this one-day symposium conducted by SITLEARN Professional Development, join other healthcare professionals as they discuss the epidemiology of falls in older persons. Pertinent issues such as balance and mobility, polypharmacy, fear avoidance and falls efficacy will also be discussed.
