Overview
Ultrasound plays a crucial role in the evaluation and management of patients with hepatobiliary and kidney diseases. The workshop is introduced in response to the industry demand and government healthcare policy in expanding capacity in skills upgrading of the current healthcare workforce.
This is a 3-day intensive, interactive workshop aims to provide participants with the theoretical knowledge and specialized clinical skills in scanning the upper abdominal organs in the advanced settings such as transplant liver and renal imaging, contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), ultrasound elastography and imaging of the peritoneal and retroperitoneal for fluid collection or masses. Intensive hands-on practical will be conducted in the afternoon sessions to complete the didactic teaching.
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to recognize the normal and abnormal ultrasound findings and will be guided in the competent production, interpretation and assessment of the abdominal ultrasound images in various advanced clinical settings.
What You’ll Learn
Upon completion of the course, the participant should be able to:
- Discuss the normal and abnormal renal and liver transplant imaging characteristics, contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) of the focal renal and liver lesions as well as aorta; and clinical applications of ultrasound elastography
- Familiar with ultrasound scanning technique and protocol of the renal and liver transplant imaging, CEUS of the liver, renal and aorta; and clinical applications of ultrasound elastography
- Demonstrate confidence to perform and interpret ultrasound scans of the peritoneal and retroperitoneal space for free fluid and masses
- Explain the significance of clinical tests and complimentary modalities relevant to hepato-biliary and kidney systems
Who Should Attend
- Radiographers practising ultrasound
- Healthcare professionals involved in ultrasound work (GPs, A&E clinicians, radiologists, residents etc)
