SITizens Learning Credits

Overview

This course introduces participants to an essential and useful life skill – Negotiation, an integral part of doing business, a process that most adults constantly adopt in their daily lives and work. The Design business is no different with many often not realizing that a specialized skill set that when negotiated and priced accordingly value adds the deliverables that can improve the odds for great results. This course introduces participants to negotiation concepts and skills, different types of negotiation styles, including interest-based and position-based negotiating, analyse different negotiation scenarios and identify the most appropriate negotiation strategy. This will prepare participants to manage the intricacies at the bargaining table and the best negotiated deal and in the process avoid potential conflicts.

What You’ll Learn

Negotiation is both reflective and active: clear thinking and decisive action are both required to improve your outcomes. The key concepts lay out in this course are how to:
  • Educating creatives and freelancers negotiation techniques
  • Understand the importance of negotiation as part of business requirements, online marketplaces, and collaborative spaces
  • What negotiation can look at without always having to offer free designs or pitches

Prerequisites

Candidates should possess a Bachelor degree in any discipline.
Candidates without a Bachelor degree can be admitted on a case-by-case basis upon evaluation by the course director.
 

Certificate and Assessment

A Certificate of Participation will be issued to participants who:
  • Attend 75% of the course
  • Undertake non-credit bearing assessment (during course)

A Certificate of Attainment for each module will be issued to participants who:

  • Attend at least 75% of each respective module; and
  • Participants who pass the Continuous Assessment

  • You can opt for either SkillsFuture Funding or Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy. Both cannot be combined.

Terms & Conditions:

SkillsFuture Funding

To be eligible for the 70% training grant awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
  1. Be a Singaporean Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
  2. Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy

To be eligible for the 90% enhanced subsidy awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
  1. Be a Singaporean Citizen
  2. Be at least 40 years old
  3. Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SIT reserves the right to collect the balance of the programme fees (i.e. the potential grant amount) directly from the applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) should the above requirements not be fulfilled.

SIT reserves the right to make changes to published course information, including dates, times, venues, fees and instructors without prior notice.

There are a total of 19 credit-bearing modules, of which there is one core 12 CR module (DSI6000) and a choice of four out of fifteen 3 CR modules to meet the requirements for the Postgraduate Certificate in Design Strategy and Innovation. Candidates who pass the core module (DSI6000) and 4 elective modules (totalling 24 credits) with a CGPA of ≥ 2.5 will be awarded the Postgraduate Certificate in Design Strategy and Innovation by SIT.
