Overview
Prototyping is about getting ideas and explorations out of your head and into the physical world. A prototype can be anything that takes a physical form such as a wall of post-it notes, role-playing activity, a space, an object, an interface and storyboarding. Prototypes can be used as a form of research even before other phases in Design Thinking, to explore problem areas in interfaces, products or services, to spot areas for improvement or innovation. The key here is to make ideas tangible, learn through making and quickly get key feedback from the people you’re designing for. In this course, we will focus on making ideas tangible to empathise, ideate and test ideas. 3 types of prototyping techniques will be introduced: Lego prototyping, paper prototyping and digital prototyping which ranges from low to high fidelity prototypes.
This 3-day course will cover user interface designing using the tools within Figma and how you can use Figma to work closely with others in the same project.
What You’ll Learn
What are Prototypes, When and How to use them
- Prototype to Empathise
- Prototype to Ideate
- Prototype to Test
Prototyping Techniques
- Lego Prototyping
- Analogue Prototyping
- Digital Prototyping
Prototype Fidelity
- Low fidelity: Static – low cost, rough and quick to build
- Medium fidelity – slightly more detailed, still rough but closer to the solution
- High fidelity: Interactive – much closer to final, very detailed and much more time-consuming
Digital Prototyping with Figma
- Figma Basics: Components, Typography, Colours, and Exporting.
- Using Figma to create a basic interactive Mobile App Interface
- Collaboration and Design Review in Figma
Who Should Attend
- SME Owners
- Entreprenuers
- Startups
