Overview
This 3-day course will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of basic Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) knowledge including electromagnetic fundamentals, international standards requirements, trends, essential measurement methods and principles of EMC troubleshooting. This course aims to upgrade the skill sets of participants as well as to improve effectiveness in the areas of EMC testing operations, product EMC design and debugging.
To aid companies in transforming their capabilities through their human capital, and support Singapore’s drive towards becoming a Smart Nation, this course is mapped to the Singapore Economic Development Board’s Singapore Smart Industry Readiness Index:

What You’ll Learn
Topic 1: Fundamental Concepts- Decibels, Phasor, Signals and Spectra, Electromagnetic Waves, Maxwell’s Equations, Material Properties, R, L and C
Topic 2: Transmission Lines- Transmission Line Theory, High-Speed Digital, TDR, Signal Integrity, Cross-Talk, Even-mode and Odd-mode, Single-Ended and Differential Signaling
Topic 3: Fundamentals of EMI (interference) Testing- Introduction of EMI testing, international standards and updates.
Topic 4: Fundamentals of EMS (immunity) Testing- Introduction of EMS testing, international standards and future trends.
Topic 5: EMC in Printed Circuit Boards- Common-mode generation in Differential Signaling, Common-mode rejection, Case Studies, Decoupling capacitors, Stack-ups and Layout Techniques and Shielding Techniques
Topic 6: Printed Circuit Board EMI Analysis (with demo)- Practical PCB EMI issue analysis using a spectrum analyser and oscilloscope

SkillsFuture Funding
In order to be eligible for the 70% training grant awarded by SkillsFuture, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
- Be a Singaporean Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
- Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme
SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy
To be eligible for the 90% enhanced subsidy awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
- Be a Singaporean Citizen
- Be at least 40 years old
- Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme
SIT reserves the right to collect the balance of the programme fees (i.e. the potential grant amount) directly from the applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) should the above requirements not be fulfilled.
