It covers design considerations of societal responsibilities, public safety, environment and sustainability, with the aim of broadening and deepening the students’ knowledge and skillsets thereby benefitting their careers in the power engineering industries in the long term.

Speakers / Trainers

What You’ll Learn

Professional Engineering Practices
  • Understanding and putting into practice of ethics, safety, societal considerations and engineering standards in design and management of electrical projects;
Design for Safety
  • Conducting health and safety risk assessment to design electrical installations for prevention of hazards arising from electric shock, arc flash, over current, thermal effects and exposure to the electromagnetic field, to comply with relevant standards;
Electromagnetic Compatibility and Functional Safety
  • Understanding the principles and theories of EMC and EMI coupling mechanisms, and the application of techniques and measures to achieve functional safety.
Lightning Protection System
  • Understanding the nature and characteristics of the lightning phenomenon; application of standards for lightning risk assessment and the design of lightning protection system for structure and low voltage systems.
