Overview

While becoming more familiar with language rules and knowing more words and terminologies certainly contribute towards enhancement of a person's communication abilities, situational awareness and a service orientation (or lack of, especially at the workplace), all play a part towards the making of an effective or ineffective communicator.

This 2-day workshop is designed to address what constitutes effective communication in this broader context. Through class discussions, writing and speaking practice, peer review and critique, interactive activities and end-of-course assessment, this course aims to help participants approach and manage communication activities with a service-oriented and purpose-driven mindset.

The content of this 2-day workshop will assist participants in three main ways. Participants will

  1. Be introduced to good practices and current ideas in effective communication;
  2. Learn to identify their own strengths and challenges in the light of the concepts and ideas introduced;  and
  3. Put into practice the most relevant strategies in support of their professional duties.
