Overview

The course aims to enhance the participant’s understanding of essential design concepts of Eurocode 4 provisions, with particular emphasis given to use of high strength steel and concrete materials and design of high strength composite steel-concrete structures.

Participants in this course will be provided with 3 training course books written by Prof Chiew Sing Ping.

Overview of Eurocodes, Migrating from BS5950 to EC4, Material Selection & BC1 Requirements and Introduction to Composite Steel-Concrete Construction. 


Day 2 
 
Session 2 Topics

9:30am – 12:30pm
Shear Connection, Design of simply-supported and continuous composite beams with worked examples to Eurocode 4.


Day 3 
 
Session 3 Topics

9:30am – 12:30pm
Design of composite columns and extension of Eurocode 4 to cover high strength concrete ƒc up to 90N/mm2  and high strength steel ƒy up to 690N/mm2  and ƒs up to 600N/mm2 .

Design of composite slabs with worked examples to Eurocode 4.

Terms & Conditions for SkillsFuture Course Funding

In order to be eligible for the 70% training grant awarded by SkillsFuture, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:

  1. Be a Singaporean Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
  2. Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy

To be eligible for the 90% enhanced subsidy awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:

  1. Be a Singaporean Citizen
  2. Be at least 40 years old
  3. Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SIT reserves the right to collect the balance of the programme fees (i.e. the potential grant amount) directly from the applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) should the above requirements not be fulfilled.
