SITizens Learning Credits

Overview

Electrification is a significant technology trend in present day urban mobility which includes both automotive/vehicles as well as railways. As the adoption of electrical and electronic systems in both the vehicles and the infrastructure increases, it is imperative to understand the potential Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) issues that can arise in such systems in order to eventually mitigate the challenges they pose. EMI/EMC issues are critical both from design and from regulatory perspectives.

This 3-day intermediate-level course will have a mix of both foundational topics and application specific topics. Foundational topics include fundamental concepts behind various EMI/EMC phenomena related to radiated and conducted emission and immunity. Application specific topics include EMC standards and management for Automotive sector and Railways. Extensive coverage of topics such as signalling techniques and related signal-integrity in cables and PCBs, grounding and shielding techniques for improved EMI/EMC performance, and electromagnetic environment and coexistence of wireless systems will be covered. The course will include relevant examples and case studies related to automotive EMC where applicable.
