Overview
This module provides students with knowledge sequel to indoor environmental quality, energy, and health. Students will be given opportunity to gain knowledge needed to conduct indoor air quality (IAQ) and climate audit, assess the risk involved and recommend countermeasures to improve IAQ and climate.
What You’ll Learn
- Interpret the relationship between and management of risk, hazard, and vulnerability of indoor environment occupants.
- Develop ability to conduct indoor environmental quality audit.
- Appreciate the technical and leadership skills needed to enhance the development of a healthy and energy efficient indoor environment.
- Work effectively in teams by demonstrating an awareness of the varying roles within a group, and the ability to choose the most appropriate role during an indoor environmental quality audit.
- Reflect upon the work of others, past and present, and relate their ideas to planning, coordination, and control of building design, construction, and maintenance and operation process to form considered judgments about healthy and energy efficient indoor environment.
- Develop problem-solving skills.

Certificate and Assessment
A Certificate of Participation will be issued to participants who:
- Attend 75% of the course
- Undertake non-credit bearing assessment (during course)
A Certificate of Attainment for each module will be issued to participants who:
- Attend at least 75% of each respective module; and
- Participants who pass the Continuous Assessment

SkillsFuture Funding
To be eligible for the 70% training grant awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
- Be a Singaporean Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
- Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme
SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy
To be eligible for the 90% enhanced subsidy awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
- Be a Singaporean Citizen
- Be at least 40 years old
- Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme
SIT reserves the right to collect the balance of the programme fees (i.e. the potential grant amount) directly from the applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) should the above requirements not be fulfilled.
SIT reserves the right to make changes to published course information, including dates, times, venues, fees and instructors without prior notice.
Course Series
Modular Certification Courses - Building Services Engineering
These modules are stackable towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Building Services Engineering (PGCert BSE) or can be taken individually as a single module:

- MEC6003 Construction Management using BIM
- MEC6015 Project Management
- MEC6017 Indoor Environmental Quality Engineering
- MEC6018 Lighting Technology for Building Services
- MEC6021 Structure Vibration and Control
Each module carries ECTS 6 credits. Candidates who pass any 4 modules (totalling 24 credits) with a CGPA of 2.5 or more will be awarded the Postgraduate Certificate in Building Services Engineering by SIT. All the above modules are subsidised by SkillsFuture Singapore.
Effective Jan 2023, the above modules have been renamed from
SIE60XX to
MEC60XX. There is no change in their stackability towards the Postgraduate Certificate in Building Services Engineering.
