SITizens Learning Credits

Overview

The module will impact knowledge and develop skills required for the participants to:
  • Draw up risk and reliability-based asset management strategies
  • Formulate and implement aligned maintenance policies and maintenance plans
  • To conduct asset performance assessment and improvement for realising optimised asset values over the asset life cycle
The module also looks specifically at maintenance engineering in the use of sensors and IoT 4.0 technologies to aid in:
  • Risk mitigation and predictive maintenance
  • Planning and management of maintenance functions
  • Spares provisioning and inventory control
  • LEAN work floor processes, asset life cycle project management
  • Risk and safety assessment methodologies for safe operation of the assets
This module is 1 of the 4 core modules under the Postgraduate Certificate in Urban Railway Technology.

Teaching Team

What You’ll Learn

1. Apply established asset management and maintenance engineering techniques and tools to assess the impact of technical and financial management on asset availability.
2. Implement new technologies to devise cost effective maintenance planning and processes.
3. Critically assess and recommend risk and reliability-based maintenance framework to achieve optimised asset life cycle management outcomes.

Who Should Attend

  • Engineering professionals who have recently embarked on or are planning to start a career in the public transport industry, with specializations in urban railway systems and technology
  • Participants who wish to obtain the Postgraduate Certificate in Urban Railway Technology

Certificate and Assessment

A Certificate of Participation will be issued to participants who:
  • Attend 75% of the course
  • Undertake non-credit bearing assessment (during course)

A Certificate of Attainment for each module will be issued to participants who:

  • Attend at least 75% of each respective module; and
  • Participants who pass the Continuous Assessment

Terms & Conditions:

SkillsFuture Funding

To be eligible for the 70% training grant awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
  1. Be a Singaporean Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
  2. Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy

To be eligible for the 90% enhanced subsidy awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
  1. Be a Singaporean Citizen
  2. Be at least 40 years old
  3. Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SIT reserves the right to collect the balance of the programme fees (i.e. the potential grant amount) directly from the applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) should the above requirements not be fulfilled.

SIT reserves the right to make changes to published course information, including dates, times, venues, fees and instructors without prior notice.

Course Series

Postgraduate Certificate in Urban Railway Technology

Modules

  • SRT6001 Singapore Land Transport Landscape and Fundamentals of Rail Engineering System (Exam only pathway)
  • SRT6002 Systems Engineering for Urban Railway Systems
  • MEC6109 Asset Management and Maintenance Engineering
  • SRT6004 Engineering Design Project

Each module carries 6 credits. Candidates who pass all 4 modules (totalling 24 credits) with a CGPA of 2.5 or more will be awarded the Postgraduate Certificate in Urban Railway Technology by SIT.
