Overview

In today’s digital age, it is increasingly habitual for many to spend their daily life plugged into digital devices. The habit encourages oblivion and affects our communication skills. Ineffective communication and interpersonal interactions with our co-workers could be detrimental in the workplace. This workshop aims to reduce friction between individuals working in teams, and to heighten self-awareness and relationship-management skills translating to higher work productivity.

Participants in this 1-day workshop, spanning across 2 days, will be able to critically reflect on the challenges they face as a communicator in the workplace, identify ways to better manage emotions while engaged in online and face-to-face interactions, and apply various communication frameworks to facilitate a more effective personal interactions in the workplace.

  • Reflect critically on the challenges you face as a communicator in contextually complex situations in your workplace
  • Appraise your strengths and limitations in interpersonal competence and cultural awareness
  • Demonstrate how self-awareness and perception influence your workplace communication decisions
  • Explain how the environment and personal identities shape your communication style
  • Identify the key emotional intelligence competencies
  • Identify ways of managing emotions in online and face-to-face interactions
  • Detect your emotional triggers and develop means of managing them
  • Discover how emotional intelligence (EQ) can help you develop more positive relationships
  • Apply strategies that promote supportive communication
  • Apply your understanding of various communication frameworks to the workplace so as to facilitate more effective personal interactions

Who Should Attend

  • Recent university graduates, junior staff, new to the workplace
  • Professionals, including educators, who see a need for reinvigorating their interpersonal style, and applying their EQ skills towards more effective communication
 

SITizens Learning Credits (SLC) - Eligible Course

Certificate and Assessment

A Certificate of Participation will be issued to participants who:
  • Attend 75% of the course, and
  • Undertake non-credit bearing assessment during the course

Terms & Conditions:

SkillsFuture Series Course Funding


In order to be eligible for the 70% training grant awarded by SkillsFuture, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
  1.  Be a Singaporean Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident or LTVP+ Holder
  2.  Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy

To be eligible for the 90% enhanced subsidy awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
  1.  Be a Singaporean Citizen
  2.  Be at least 40 years old
  3.  Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SIT reserves the right to collect the balance of the course fees (i.e. the SSG course fee grant amount) directly from the trainees and/or their sponsoring organisations, where applicable, should the requirements not be fulfilled by the trainee.

SIT reserves the right to make changes to published course information, including dates, times, venues, fees and instructors without prior notice.
