What You’ll Learn

After successfully completing this module the learner will be able to:
1. Demonstrate a knowledge of Neuroplasticity in athlete rehabilitation

4. Review the evidence base research for surgical vs non-surgical management of athlete
5. Understand science of pain in athlete rehabilitation and performance
6. Maintain current awareness of the pharmacological and nutritional agents used in the prevention of injury and return to play, including their effects, risks and status in relation to anti-doping regulations
7. Describe the lifespan of an athlete – considerations for youth and Masters athletes

Related and relevant health-science-related qualifications and working experience.

Duration

  • Part-time Postgraduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy: 2 - 3 years
  • Part-time Postgraduate Diploma in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy: 3 - 5 years
  • Each module is around 12-14 weeks in duration
  • Candidates are expected to set aside time for self-directed learning for the entire duration of the module


Certificate and Assessment

A Certificate of Participation will be issued to participants who:
  • Attend 75% of the module, and
  • Undertake credit bearing assessment.

A Certificate of Attainment will be issued to participants who:
  • Attend 75% of the module, and
  • Participants who pass the Assessment criteria of the respective module will earn 6 credits, which are stackable for Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma qualifications.
  • Candidates who pass 4 modules (totalling 24 credits) with a CGPA of 2.5 or more will be awarded the Postgraduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy by Singapore Institute of Technology.
  • Candidates who pass 8 modules (totalling 48 credits) with a CGPA of 2.5 or more will be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy by Singapore Institute of Technology.

SkillsFuture Funding

To be eligible for the 70% training grant awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:

1.    Be a Singaporean Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
2.    Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy

To be eligible for the 90% enhanced subsidy awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:

1.    Be a Singaporean Citizen
2.    Be at least 40 years old
3.    Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SIT reserves the right to collect the balance of the programme fees (i.e. the potential grant amount) directly from the applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) should the above requirements not be fulfilled.

SIT reserves the right to make changes to published course information, including dates, times, venues, fees and instructors without prior notice.

Postgraduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
These modules are stackable towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy or can be taken individually as a single module as follows:

Each module carries 6 credits which are stackable for Postgraduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. Candidates who pass 4 of the compulsory modules (HSC6002PTY6101PTY6102 and PTY6105), totalling 24 credits, with a CGPA of ≥ 2.5 to be completed within a year period will be awarded the Postgraduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy by SIT.

 

Postgraduate Diploma in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

These modules are stackable towards a Postgraduate Diploma in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy or can be taken individually as a single module as follows:

Candidates who pass any of the 8 modules (inclusive of 6 compulsory modules HSC6002PTY6101PTY6102, PTY6105, PTY6108 and PTY6109), totalling 48 credits, with a CGPA of ≥ 2.5 to be completed within a year period will be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy by SIT.
