This 1-day workshop will cover assessing physical capacity measures such as gait speed, balance and strength, which are routinely performed clinically screening for long-term outcomes, such as frailty and falls risk assessments. These measures can also be used to assess the possibility of returning to sport capacity and re-injury risk in athletic populations. However, clinical tools for assessing the initial impairment and changes over time often possess significant limitations such as poor precision, high inaccuracy and modest reliability. This can result in poor assessments and frustrate patients and their families, who want may wish to know more about their recovery or disease progression.
This will include practical, hands on demonstrations of the different tests and some of the technology available for assessments.
