Overview

This module provides students with the knowledge and understanding, practical skills, and competencies required to design and deliver sustainable buildings. This module focuses on how the design and delivery of energy and water efficient buildings can be achieved without compromising building occupants’ health and comfort. The role of building information modelling (BIM) as a process management strategy for increasing the productivity of designing and delivering sustainable buildings will be emphasized. To ensure the learning outcomes set for this module are met, the performance of students in the building energy and water efficiency innovation project and written examination will be assessed.

Prerequisites

  • Candidate should possess a post polytechnic diploma qualification.
  • Candidate must have at least two years of relevant working experience in the built environment, engineering, information technology industry.

Certificate and Assessment

A Certificate of Participation will be issued to participants who:
  • Attend 75% of the course
  • Undertake non-credit bearing assessment (during course)

A Certificate of Attainment for each module will be issued to participants who:

  • Attend at least 75% of each respective module; and
  • Participants who pass the Continuous Assessment

50 hours of personal endeavour over 15 weeks. This includes supervision time with you assigned Faculty supervisor, personal research and reading, e-learning activities, preparation of documentation for assessment

SkillsFuture Funding

To be eligible for the 70% training grant awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
  1. Be a Singaporean Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
  2. Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy

To be eligible for the 90% enhanced subsidy awarded, applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) must:
  1. Be a Singaporean Citizen
  2. Be at least 40 years old
  3. Not receive any other funding from government sources in respect of the actual grant disbursed for the programme

SIT reserves the right to collect the balance of the programme fees (i.e. the potential grant amount) directly from the applicants (and/or their sponsoring organisations where applicable) should the above requirements not be fulfilled.

SIT reserves the right to make changes to published course information, including dates, times, venues, fees and instructors without prior notice.

Course Series

Modular Certification Courses - Building Services Design

These modules are stackable towards a Specialist Certificate in Building Services Design or can be taken individually as a single module as follows:

Modules

  • SIE1012 Engineering Drawing for Building Services
  • SIE2013 Sustainable Building Engineering
  • SIE2017 HVAC 1
  • SIE3018 HVAC2

Each module carries 5 credits. Candidates who pass all 4 modules (totalling 20 credits) with a CGPA of 2.0 or more will be awarded the Specialist Certificate in Building Services Design by SIT.
