This one-day course enables participants to appreciate the feasibility for us to grow leafy vegetables traditionally grown on soil in an indoor spaces using artificial lights and multi-shelves racking system, or on purpose-built enclosures, which offer high yield efficiency in a climate controlled environment, using organic fertiliser, artificial lighting, minimal amount water and free from pest without using any amount of pesticide.
Participants will have the opportunity to practice hands-on the various stages of farming right from germination from seeds, nursery and potting for cultivation to harvest, using specimen prepared in advance.
At the end of the appreciation course, participants will have a good understanding of those techniques; essential equipment, growing environment, required conditions and the practical know how to grow leafy vegetables in indoor spaces or customised enclosures.
With practices and passion, participants will be able to grow vegetables not only for own consumption but the possibility of seeking to be a city farmer who will have the capacity to produce leafy vegetables in large quantity for the communities, and our nation will become less reliance on imports of some vegetables, especially those normally grown in temperate regions.
